OLYMPIA The Redistricting Commission will hold the third of three
public hearings in Spokane Tuesday to take testimony on four draft plans
for the 2002 electoral boundaries.

In late September, the Commissions four voting members unveiled
individual draft plans for legislative and congressional districts. Over
the next two months, along with gathering public comment, the commissioners
will use their draft plans as a starting point for negotiations. Those
negotiations, in turn, will lead to a single legislative and congressional
plan. A final plan, which must be approved by at least three voting commissioners,
is due to the Legislature by December 15.
