OLYMPIA The Redistricting Commission will hold a regular meeting,
Thursday, Oct. 4 in Olympia. Among other agenda items, the commissioners
will review third-party plans that propose changes for the states
2002 political boundaries.

On September 24, the Commissions four voting members unveiled their
individual draft plans for legislative and congressional districts. During
the next two months, along with gathering public comment, the commissioners
will use their draft plans as a starting point for negotiations. Those
negotiations, in turn, will lead to a single legislative and congressional
plan. A final plan, which must be approved by at least three voting commissioners,
is due to the Legislature by December 15.
