OLYMPIA — The Washington State Redistricting Commission will hold the last of its 16 summer hearings at the Seattle Municipal Building, Aug. 2. The bipartisan commission, charged with redrawing the state’s 49 legislative and 9 congressional district boundaries, is seeking public comment on the redrawing of political boundaries for the 2002 elections.

Since the public hearings began in mid-May, more than 500 people have attended the meetings held throughout the state. Commissioners have invited testimony on redistricting priorities, local political and physical geography as well as insights on communities with common social, economic and cultural interests.
