Redistricting facts

The redistricting commission approved a final plan of Washington’s 49 legislative and 9 congressional districts by Jan 1, 2002.

The 2002 final plan becomes law Feb 12, 2002.

The new districts take effect with the 2002 fall elections. Current legislators continue to represent their old district until an election has been run using the new boundaries.
