Washington state electoral data for the years 1996 through 2000 appears in five databases on this web site. All electoral data are based upon official general election results, sent by 39 county auditors to the Secretary of State’s office.

The Washington State Redistricting Commission has made every effort to ensure the overall accuracy of this electoral data, which will be used to create a new district map for the next 10 years. Official electoral data reside with the Office of the Secretary of State, and county auditors’ offices or election departments, and may be obtained through those agencies.

These election databases are relational databases. Unlike a simple spreadsheet, each database consists of interconnected forms, tables and queries. Forms are used to enter data in to a database. Tables are used to store and display data. Queries are used to access data quickly and efficiently. The database user’s manual provides step-by-step instruction on how to display data and run queries.
